Northern Ireland Landscapes

A Magical place

Ireland is a magical land and along the north coast are many stunning landscapes.

Included in this ancient landscape is Slemish Mountain, a resting volcano where  St Patrick spent his childhood.

This image of Slemish won numerous international awards and was selected by the TATE Gallery Time Life for inclusion in the book “The worlds greatest Black and White Photography”

Roy takes up the story ... “It was first light and the snow had just stopped falling. I noticed the open gate a field away from the road so I tramped across and set up the tripod to frame it against the mountain. Unexpectedly, out of the ditch where it had been  sheltering overnight, a curious sheep appeared. I didn’t move a muscle. Gradually, the rest of the flock followed to look the strange new appearance in their landscape. Hardly daring to breathe, I captured the shot.

Suddenly, a sheep in the middle spooked and the flock scattered in all directions.

The shot of a lifetime.”
